Scratch that last post. In the last hour McKay has put on quite a show. He started to open his eyes and eventually spent quite a while looking around. While I talked to him and told him about all there was to see in the world he seemed to grow more and more alert. But as all good things go, I guess we got a little greedy. We got McKay so excited about being awake that his respiratory rate went far too high. We backed off and waited for him to calm down. It was then it seemed he may have realized that not only was he awake and looking at the world, but that he was also in some pain from his surgery. The nurse gave him a small dose of morphine and he has calmed down now and headed back into the fog of rest and healing.
It was amazing to see his little eyes for the first time. That is always something I've taken for granted with my other babies. In fact, it seems we spent most of our time trying to get them to close their eyes...ironic, isn't it? Here's to another small victory!

I'm so amazed that someone so small can be so incredibly tough. We love you guys and continue to pray for little Mckay.

Mindi,
I don't know where I've been but Sam just called me yesterday and told me to go to your blog and see what was going on with little McKay. I didn't even know you had given birth, let alone that he was going in for heart surgery. I thought about him all day yesterday and prayed for him. I'm so glad that the surgery seems to have gone well. We will continue to pray for him and your family. I'm glad you have your blog so we can find out how he is doing each day. WE love you!

Hi Mind,
I'm glad McKay is doing well. I remember when we would talk to Myles while he was lying there and his rate would go up really high too, they didn't want us to talk or hold him until he got a little bit stronger , but it was so hard not to talk to him. Isn't it wonderful to see him respond to you and look around for you. You are a wonderful and mom and I know you can get through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. It's tough. I've only been through a fraction of what you are dealing with..and I its not easy! I'm here is you need to talk, or if you need anything!
Love, Jaci
Matt and Mindi we are thinking of you everyday and praying for little Mckay! He sure is tough! Lots and lots of love!!
