Home Again, Home Again

Yep. Lickety split. We're home.

McKay is doing well tonight and we're gladly resting at home because they didn't really find much to do once they launched their little pleasure cruise inside his little circulatory system today.

Unfortunately, the cath wasn't able to tell us much about what's going wrong. On the bright side, it did show how much is going right. Dr. Gray called McKay "The poster child for the Glenn" operation. This means perfect pressures. Impeccable valves. Gorgeous pulmonary arteries. And no collaterals to speak of. Hmmm. Then why the ever-devolving crappy sats?

While we discussed many theories today, it's likely we won't know what's going wrong until a surgeon actually gets a good look at him. In other words, they'd have to open him up to know any more than they know now. And while we still need to have a good chit-chat with our cardio angel, that likely means there will be no putting off the Fontan. Little man needs some intervention fairly soon and they've done all they can do short of operating at this point.

I'll post some great pics of Mac's anatomy once I have a chance to scan them in tomorrow. I just fell down the stairs on my way to grab this computer. I'm going to take that as a sign that sleep is required--and soon. Until then, enjoy the pics of my cherub in recovery this afternoon. What mother of three busy boys gets five uninterrupted hours of cuddling? Today, I did. Praise be.

I have been praying and fasting for your little man. I am so glad that there are many things that are wonderful with his precious heart. We will continue to keep him in our prayers as always. It was so wonderful to see you. Keep smiling and congrats on the marathon I am seriously beyond impressed.

Ah... so good news and bad news. I am in awe of his fabulous Glenn anatomy. Jealous too :).

It has always baffled docs why Owen continues to need O2 support. There is really no explaination. If he's active he's in the 50's.. normally on 1/2 liter he's at 75%. Nothing to brag about. Bluck.

While getting a move on the Fontan is scary.. it would be so nice to be done with it!

I wondered all night how things went. Glad to hear the positive news. What a hero he is! Glad to wake up to this good post. Have a great day!

Sorry that the cath didn't reveal any clear answers. It is hard some times when you can't always know "why" things are the way they are. Been there way too many times myself!

Hang in there!! Praying for your family.

I am glad that you didn't have to stay long. I am not a big fan of Cath's and so I always worry when I know of kids having them.
Sorry it looks like your will be back in the hospital soon for the Fotan, but we will be there by your side when needed.
I hope you are okay from the fall and you were able to get some sleep! Remember what Margaret wrote: If I could only get a few hours of sleep I would be okay. . .sounds like it's running true to you.
